In the middle of June I was able to attend a medical simulation conference in Lisbon, Portugal. This was the 22nd meeting of the Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine (SESAM). Over 700 people attended and the quality of the presentations was overall quite high. Everyone was very friendly and approachable – this is an exciting time to be working in medical simulation!
Between the conference and a paper I was working on I was only able to quickly visit some of the best known parts of town. With beautiful sunny weather, Lisbon shone and gave the impression of a friendly, creative and vibrant city.

Walking away from the conference centre.

Spectacular graffiti.

Tasteful graffiti.

Cheeky graffiti.

Nice views over the old part of town.

Tiled facade in the Alfama district.

Portuguese pavement can get quite slippery if it rains.

Mosteiro dos Jeronimos.
